MOTD- Claire’s “Chromance”

Hello ladies and gents!

I’m officially on Thanksgiving Break! Thank goodness, because I think I might be getting a cold, I have a splitting headache 😦 Hopefully that clears, because I need to be well to stuff my face with turkey! I’m having two Thanksgiving dinners this year, one with my mom’s side of the family at my house, then we’re all driving to my grandmother’s house to have a second dinner with my dad’s side of the family! DOUBLE FOOD! I can’t wait!

While at the mall this weekend, I impulse bought two nail polishes from Claire’s upon seeing their buy one get one 50% off sale on cosmetics. To be fair, how could I say no to this beauty?! Chromance is an intense blue/purple/violet duochrome shimmer polish, which shade shifts constantly. Claire’s says it’s a holographic polish, but it’s definitely not. That doesn’t detract from its fabulousness though! It has blue, purple, and magenta sparkles in it, and shines like the glassy surface of water. This polish is so many levels of awesome I can’t even, you guys. It’s GORGEOUS! It applies really easily (though the brush was a little stiff), and is opaque in 2 coats, but it its most intense in 3 coats. Pictures below are 3 coats of Chromance without topcoat!

I photographed the polish in two different lights to show how much of a chameleon the color is! I love it! Best impulse buy EVAHHH! What do you think of this color? Do you love it as much as I do? Let me know in the comments!

Claire’s nail polish sells for $4.50 a bottle and up (depending on the kind of polish you get- this one was $4.50) and can be found at Claire’s’ stores, and on their website, here.

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink- Claire’s “Hot Stuff”

Hello lovely ladies!

It’s time to pull out the sunglasses, kids, because today I have my BRIGHTEST pink for you! This polish is appropriately named Hot Stuff by Claire’s Cosmetics Nail Polish, and boy is it a neon stunner!

Hot Stuff is a neon hot pink, just screaming for summer days and pool parties. It’s very opaque, and it only takes 2 coats to get full coverage on the nail. Formula wise, this polish is very nice. Not too thick (which some neons can be), though it does veer to the thicker side of polish, but it’s certainly workable. It dries to a satin finish, but it easily becomes shiny with topcoat. VNL can be a bit of a problem when you hold your nails up to the light, but it’s not really bothersome to me. Pictures below are without topcoat.

This polish is somewhat similar to last week’s Pink Ice color, however, Hot Stuff has no shimmer whatsoever running through it, and it’s definitely much pinker. All in all, it’s a great hot pink to have in your stash! Two gold stars!

Claire’s polishes retail for $4.00-$8.00 (depending on the polish line, this one was $4.50) and can be bought at Claire’s stores, and on their website, here.

MOTD- Claire’s Nail Polish “Surprise Party”

Hi everyone!

I don’t know about where you live, but in Delaware, the weather was fantastic today! I don’t think it got above 80 degrees, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky the whole day. I babysat my 3 and 1 year old neighbors, and we just ran around and played outside for hours. I love these kinds of perfect summer days! I wish we had more of them!

Such a beautiful, sunny day called for a beautiful, summery color. And what better polish than a glitter polish to represent the shine of the sun?! I also had a huge purple craving today, so my new Claire’s polish seemed to quench all of my polish thirsts!

Image

“Surprise Party” is a deep red-purple jelly base (sooo squishy, it’d be great on it’s own, too!) with all sorts of colors of moderately sized hex glitters. The glitters sort of rise to the top of the polish on the nail, so with one coat, it looks like the glitter is a separate nail polish on top of the purple. However, after a second coat, the glitter gets more of a “3D” appearance, with some of the glitter being “sandwiched” in the purple jelly. Just a warning to people who hate rough textured nail polish, this will dry somewhat roughly due to the glitter density (and the density/placement of the glitter is pretty spot on with 2-3 coats). To fix this, a few coats of top coat should solve your problem. Two coats of Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Color in “Flawless” did the trick for me!

Overall, I’m a big fan of this polish. I actually got it for free from Claire’s as part of a “buy 2 get one free” deal about two weeks ago (and it might still be running at some locations). It’s a great, bright, and bold color perfect for the liveliness of summer. Below are pictures of sunlight and indoor lighting with 3 coats of “Surprise Party” and 2 coats of Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Color in “Flawless”, no base coat.

Sorry for the messy cuticles, I had a cut on one of them and didn’t want to get anywhere near it with acetone!

So what do you think of this jelly glitter bomb? Will you be wearing a fun, sparkly color to celebrate August and the lazy days of summer? Leave your thoughts in the comments!

Claire’s Splatter Polish in “Paparazzi”

Hi everyone! While at the mall with a friend yesterday, we stopped by Claire’s to look for some little trinkets. Of course, I made a beeline right for the nail polish rack! Lucky for me, they were having a sale, buy one get one 50% off! So I bought the mini set of the “Precious Metals” Glitter collection (review and swatches to come later) for $10, and then this polish was my 50% off purchase! It was originally $7, but I got it for $3.50. And let me tell you, I’m very happy with my purchase!

“Paparazzi” is essentially a matte glitter bomb. Small white, black, and matte pink hex glitters, medium size pink hex glitters, and large pink hex glitters, along with tiny translucent hex glitters and multiple sizes (from very thick to very thin) pink bar glitter interspersed throughout the rest. Holy perfection! You don’t even really have to place the glitter on the nail (except for the large hexagonal glitters) because the glitter is so dense in the bottle! I only used two coats to clean up the sparser areas because I’m a nail perfectionist, LOL. This makes a great polkadot topcoat, very similar to the new Maybelline polkadot polishes (but this one has pink glitter, instead of the black and white in the Maybelline). Claire’s also had a sky blue and white version of this, and a black and white version. After my love affair with this one, I might go back and get the others! Below are two coats of “Paparazzi” over two coats of Rue Beauté “004”, with the Ulta color-enhancing top coat on top. Indoor lighting.

Claire’s is having a sale right now, 50% off all cosmetics with the purchase of one cosmetic item, and if you spend $20 or more, you get $10 in Claire’s cash, redeemable at the end of August.

What do you think of this awesome polish? Gawdy or amazing? Will you be picking one up for yourself?
